well yesterday i was in line getting some clothes and these two hot girls
were in front of me. one turned around, i saw in the corner of my eye and
she quickly whirled the other way, but i wasn't staring at her or anything.
it was just a quick glance.

and then last night at a party this girl i used to like did it whenever i
entered the room. i would briefly make eye contact and she tries to make it
seem she was never looking at me. and whenever i ask her how shes doing and
everything, she always gives me short answers even on open ended questions.
the thing that baffles me is i'm not threatening to her in anyway. I try to
make nice conversation.

That second girl doesn't sound that into you, dude. You pushed the eye contact before making any kind of regular contact or talk, or even rapport, and that's creepy.
