There was a recent discussion on the Alpha Man forum about
the Mystery’s
'The Pickup Artist' show on VH1.
A lot of guys were discussing the show and its implications for the seduction
community, being a pickup artist, ruining the "mystery" of attraction
with women, etc.
Here's one of the messages:
"I've been watching Mystery on The Pickup Artist, and
just like Carlos' information, it's amazing how well these 'games'
can work with women. (It's too bad VH-1 doesn't let you swear,
or show nudity, because I bet it would get a lot more controversial.)
"I'm wondering, though, with all the focus on pickup
artist material like Mystery's, will these techniques be ruined
for everyone?"
I wanted to discuss this and the whole concept of what is happening as a
result of The Pickup Artist show.
First of all, recognize that the principles of attraction do
not change just
because someone saw a reality television show about it.
If you need any further evidence of this, simply look at the ridiculous number
of self-help books in the love & relationships section of any bookstore.
They never seem to get tired of re-hashing the same "just talk to each
other and be honest" crap.
The flavor of the month in these books is really just the most current fad "sound
bite" that someone used on "Oprah" this week. I'm not just
being a mean hater about this, either.
Whether you consider yourself a "pickup artist" like Mystery or
not, the fact remains that when a woman finds herself attracted to you, she's
not going to stop you and yell out, "Hey! I know what you're doing! Next
comes rapport, and then you're going to try and escalate!"
Yeah.
Right...
The key thing to remember about a show like Mystery's is that it only performs
the necessary evolutionary "thinning the herd" that is needed. If
you're a guy who's just reciting the routines you learned off
'The Pickup Artist' show, word-for-word, YES you will be found out.
And you DESERVE to be! Any woman with a peanut in her skull would be able
to figure this out.
So you must EVOLVE into what is often called "natural game." I
call this "REAL Game," because I've added a bunch of elements that
give you a complete Alpha Lifestyle.
It's funny, because I've always talked about the need for strong inner game
and an authentic approach, and now all of a sudden it's the flavor-of-the-month
for pickup artists everywhere.
There is a simple truth about human beings, and that is that our brains evolved
to sense and connect to SINCERITY above all else. We have brains as big as
we do - not to build tall buildings and cool rocket ships - but to manage
the complex task of simply figuring out who is FOR REAL.
Do I think you should watch Mystery's "The Pickup Artist" show?
Absolutely! I've always been a fan of Mystery's
stuff. It's a lot of fun, and a bit insightful for guys who know that they
will need much more than a pickup pattern to attract women. It's an awesome
framework around which to develop some social intuition.
But remember that being attractive to women - and successful
with women -
requires much more than pickup artist techniques.
You don't have to worry about your "routines" being spoiled when
you're learning how to be an Alpha Man.
Remember: There will always be one more pickup artist technique to learn...
... but if you have REAL game
and confidence, you'll ALWAYS have a technique.
