QUESTION:

I think you are really clever about women. I just purchased your books.

I met a girl in the mall for five minutes who gave me her cell number, but said sheepishly that she was married. I called, talked five minutes, then text (messaged) her later telling her I felt 'Like I'd known her a long time.' She didn't respond. Then a week goes by and I left a message telling her even though she was married I would like to have a drink and we could be friends.

Still no response for a month. What can I do now?

Have I blown it? This woman is an anchor for CNN and gorgeous. I am being totally honest.

Desperate for genius advice!

Let's go through it by the numbers:

1) She gave you her cell phone number even though she was married (????) I just consulted my Magic 8-Ball and it said, "She gave you a phony number, dude..."

2) Wait a second... she's MARRIED? Let's get this straight, I don't condone going after married women. Too much bad karma. I've been woken up by a 4:00 AM phone call from a woman's husband not once, but a few times. It's scary to think that someone with a registered firearm might know where I live.

Spare yourself that kind of fear. Avoid married women. There are billions of single women out there just waiting to get laid by the right guy.

Okay, now that that is out of my system, I'll pretend I didn't see that so I can help correct the other errors.

3) You called her, talked to her, and then text messaged her something VERY NEEDY. "You knew her a long time"? Choke... barf.... wheeze...

That ranks right up there with "We're soulmates, it's our destiny..."

Whoops... gotta run to the toilet and puke again...

4) Oh, forget the rest of the analysis. I'll answer you quick and to the point.

QUESTION:

Hi Carlos.

I have a situation, where I really need your advice how to handle it.

I just came from a party, where this accident happened. On this party I got to know one fine girl that my buddy liked (or still likes, i don't know that.) So, basically most of the people got really drunk there, except for me and that girl. My buddy was drunk too. All evening he was approaching that girl, like hugging her, always interacting with her, bugging her. I knew that he won't get what he want, because he acted too needy.

I know that the more you hitting on a girl, the more she pulls away from you. I was being THE ALPHA MAN there. I was holding my posture all evening. I was in control of the entire party, because I did not get drunk and someone had to play a role of a superviser anyways.

As the evening progressed, I noticed that the girl started showing me some indication of interest. Well, that is basically what I wanted. When most of the people left and I finally made the drunk ones (including my buddy) go to sleep, because they were causing too much trouble, I left alone in the room with that girl.

We were talking, joking and stuff for several minutes, but we were interrupted by my buddy, who came to our room. After several minutes of conversation with him, she offered to escort him to his bed. She wanted him to go to sleep, so she can stay with me alone. When she came back, we started kissing and it started. But we were interrupted again by my buddy, who entered the room again. He found us on the sofa where she was almost naked. Obviously, it all finished at this point and the arguments started.

She got her things and left home, while I was arguing with my buddy for like 2 hours. Basically, he was saying that I did a very bad thing, knowing that he liked her. He said that since I knew he liked her, I should not have tried to do with her anything.

Also he said that he does not trust me at all. Plus, he said that I tried to take advantage of her, because she was drunk, but she was not drunk at all. I said that she was attracted to me and she was not attracted to him; that I did not mean to hurt him and sh*t. It was a long argument and not very pleasant for both of us. He said he will talk to her about that. I don't fell the need to talk to her about that, I just want to settle my things with my boddy.

Now you know what happened. I really want to know what should I do here. How do I settle this with my buddy? Should I pursue this gal, because I find her very attractive too? I will see her monday in the university, but my buddy will probably talk to her before that.

I am very interested to find out what can you suggest me in this situation.

CARLOS NEEDS TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT YOUR WB BOYFRIEND:

Do you want to know what a WB is?

It's not the nicest thing to call someone, but sometimes it hits the spot.

WB stands for "Whiney B*tch."

Your "buddy" is just being really jealous and insecure. He's being a bit of a WB.

He couldn't close the deal, or control his drinking, and he wonders why he couldn't get off with this girl? He needs a wake-up call.

And, honestly, hearing that it took that long to handle an argument only leads me to believe that his emotional immaturity was the theme of your discussion, not the reality of the situation.

But, on the other hand, if you value his friendship, you should think about which of these you want more:

A) A woman you haven't known very long for a fling that might not last very long, either, and might jeopardize your friendship

or

B) The friend you have right now, even if he is being a WB. You probably have more history there.

But I have to agree with your buddy that if you knew he was into her, you probably should have straightened that out in advance of getting the freak on with her. You had to know that was going to cause SOME disturbance, right?

Or were you just thinking with the Little Head?

Don't give me that "accident happened" crap.

You did what you did on purpose. There was no "accident" here. And it was out of heated attraction for this girl. It won't be the first time in history that some woman has come between a couple of guys. And it won't be the last. (Let me tell you, it's rarely worth it. The women are temporary. A man's friendship is more enduring.)

I will tell you this, though. You need to make sure that you set the ground rules for the future with this guy and make sure that he doesn't show up every time to ruin your seductions. That would have to be the end of the road for a friendship if he can't get over himself and go get some other girls that really are REALLY interested in him instead of trying to smother your ability.

If this becomes a habit or a pattern, it might be time to lose this 'friend.'

It's a genuine problem when guys can't get over a woman, especially when she has no interest in him. It might even be time to be straight up with him about why he wasn't able to get her.

Ah, well, all is not lost.

I can assure you that whatever he may say to her will only make you look better.

1) He has no credibility really with her.

2) Women actually love to be told what to do.

NOT! She'll want you even more if she thinks you're forbidden. Let him tell her what he wants. It will only help you. Unless it's something about a bad STD.

3) She doesn't want him, obviously, and that's not likely to change.

So your path is clear.

First, decide what's more important to you right now, your frienship or this woman.

Second, if it's him, decide how to handle his inability to face the Truth, and how you're going to face the future.

If it's her you want, decide how you want to handle your friend, and how you're going to feel when it's over between you and her. Not to be pessimistic here, but that will probably be the situation, eventually.

And, lastly, remember that this girl chose to get funky with you, knowing the situation with your friend. So either you're driving her so wild with attraction she can't help herself, or she just can't control herself.

Either way, you may wake up one morning and find her naked on the couch with another guy, too.
